Special Event Permits
Hosting a special event in the Township of Georgian Bluffs? Whether it’s a concert, festival, or community gathering, special events help bring our community together. The Township requires a Special Event Permit for gatherings of 300 or more attendees to ensure public safety and smooth operations.
What Qualifies as a Special Event?
A Special Event includes activities such as exhibitions, concerts, and festivals. It includes events hosted for profit or not-for-profit purposes, with gatherings of 300 to 1,000 attendees. Major Events with over 1,000 attendees require additional Council approval.
How to Apply for a Special Event Permit

Complete the Application Form
- Review By-law 47-2013 Special Events By-law and Application.
- Provide details about the event, location, expected attendance, and any special requirements.

Submit Your Application
- Applications must be submitted at least 60 days before the event to clerks@georgianbluffs.ca.
- Include all required documents, such as:
- Proof of liability insurance.
- Written permissions from property owners (if applicable).
- Approvals from agencies.

Wait for Approval
- Your application will be reviewed by Township staff. Additional conditions may be imposed to ensure safety and community harmony.

Pay the Application Fee
- Fees vary based on the size and purpose of your event:
- Special Events (up to 1,000 attendees): $200
- Major Events (over 1,000 attendees): $500
- Not-for-Profit Events: $75 (up to 1,000 attendees); $500 (over 1,000 attendees, at Council’s discretion).

- Fire Permits: For events involving burning.
- Refreshment Licences: For food vendors.
- Road Closures: If applicable, you may need a temporary road closure (right of way occupancy) approval.
