Formal Complaints

The Township of Georgian Bluffs is committed to accountability and transparency in all aspects of governance. If you have concerns regarding Township operations, staff, or members of Council, you may submit a formal complaint for review.


Types of Complaints

  1. Administrative Complaints
    To make a Formal Complaint with the Township for administration related matters.
  2. Council Code of Conduct Complaints
    For issues related to the ethical behaviour of Council members, as outlined in the Council Code of Conduct. 
  3. Closed Meeting Complaints
    For allegations that closed meetings were conducted in violation of the Municipal Act, 2001.

Steps for Submitting a Formal Complaint

Administrative Complaints

Submit your concerns directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO):

Council Code of Conduct Complaints

Submit complaints related to Council member conduct to the Township’s Integrity Commissioner:

Before submitting a complaint, review the Council Code of Conduct to determine if the issue should be addressed formally or informally.


Closed Meeting Complaints

For allegations that closed meetings were conducted in violation of the Municipal Act, 2001, contact the Ombudsman of Ontario:

Complaint Review Process

Once a formal complaint is submitted:

  1. Acknowledgement: The appropriate body (e.g., Integrity Commissioner, Ombudsman, CAO) will confirm receipt of your complaint.
  2. Investigation: A thorough investigation will be conducted, if applicable.
  3. Resolution: Findings and recommendations will be communicated to you in writing.
