Grey Bruce O.P.P. Detachment Board
On April 1, 2024, the Community Safety and Policing Act (CPSA), 2019, was proclaimed, repealing the Police Services Act, 1990. As a result, the Grey Bruce O.P.P. Detachment Board was established under O.Reg. 135/24.
The Board includes members from local municipalities and First Nations, along with provincial and community appointees. The Board is responsible for overseeing police services in the Grey Bruce Detachment Area.
With support from member communities and municipalities, Township Georgian Bluffs staff have assumed the administrative duties of the Board. Inquires can be directed to 519-376-2729 ext. 922.

As included under section 35 of the CPSA, the role of board members includes the following:
- Take an oath or affirmation of office;
- Successfully complete all training (primarily online) as assigned by the Ministry ;
- Comply with the Community Safety and Policing Act 2019 Code of Conduct;
- Support the key responsibilities of the Board;
- Approval of the terms of reference; and
- Attend the Board meetings (minimum of 4 meetings per calendar year).
Appointment of Provincial Appointees
There are 3 Provincial Appointees on the Grey Bruce Detachment Joint Board.

Appointment of Community Appointees
There are 4 Community Appointees on the Grey Bruce Detachment Joint Board.
As included under section 33 of the CPSA, the following persons are not eligible to be members of a police service board:
1. A judge or justice of the peace.
2. A member of a police service, a special constable or a First Nation Officer.
3. Any person who practises criminal law as a defence counsel or as a prosecutor.
4. A director, officer or employee of a prescribed policing provider.

Legislation, Policies, Plans, and More
As required under the CSPA, the Grey Bruce Joint Detachment Board is required to create its own local policies and ensure these policies available to the public. The Board will continue to implement new policy specific to the policing needs of the community and they will be included below.
