Stay Safe and Share the Roads and Trails This Summer

Speed trailer on a road

As the warm weather returns, residents and visitors of Georgian Bluffs are heading outdoors to enjoy the trails and take scenic drives throughout the Township. To ensure everyone’s safety, all road and trail users are reminded to follow the rules and be considerate of others.

The speed monitoring trailer is back on high-traffic roads across Georgian Bluffs for the 2024 season. Equipped with a radar gun and a friendly reminder to slow down, the trailer helps reduce speeding and gather valuable data for the Ontario Provincial Police. When you see the trailer, remember to check your speed and drive safely. Speeding is dangerous and can result in fines and penalties.

The Township is also increasing patrols on roads and trails in partnership with bylaw enforcement staff and the OPP. This presence helps ensure that all users—whether on foot, bike, horseback, or ATV—are following safety guidelines and regulations.

If you’re using an ATV or similar vehicle, please know where you can and cannot ride. Always be aware of speed limits, carry your license and insurance information, and wear the appropriate safety gear. Responsible riding is crucial for everyone’s safety.

When passing others on trails or roadways, be courteous and share the space. Consider how your actions might impact other users. Many quiet spots are home to wildlife and residents, so stay on designated trails and roads, respect private property, and minimize disturbances.

By driving responsibly and obeying traffic rules, we can all contribute to safer travel in Georgian Bluffs. Let’s work together to make this a safe and enjoyable season for everyone.
