Georgian Bluffs Staff Hit the Trail for #TrashtagGB

Township staff got their gloves dirty and their steps in today, joining in the #TrashtagGB community clean-up challenge with a spring sweep of the Georgian Bluffs Rail Trail.

Eight members of the Georgian Bluffs team headed out in the sunshine over the lunch hour to clear litter on the stretch of trail between Range Road and 27th Street West. In addition to filling four bags with smaller garbage items, the team hauled out large discarded items, including pieces of an abandoned swimming pool.

“It’s always rewarding to get out and show our community pride by taking care of the spaces that we all share,” said Niall Lobley, Chief Administrative Officer for the Township. “We’re proud to be part of the #TrashtagGB challenge and hope others will take the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, connect with their neighbours, and help keep Georgian Bluffs looking its best.”

Fifteen teams have already signed up to take part, and there’s still time to join. The clean-up challenge runs until May 13, and participants can choose any location in Georgian Bluffs that’s meaningful to them, whether that’s neighbourhood roadsides, trails, parks, or other public spaces. A map of planned clean-ups is available on the Township website to help residents spread out their efforts across the Township.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Grab some friends, clean up a place you love, and help make Georgian Bluffs even more beautiful this spring.
