Georgian Bluffs Launches Short-Term Rental Licensing Program

Georgian Bluffs is introducing a new Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Licensing Program, with an online licensing portal now open for applications.

Developed through extensive consultation with STRA operators, local businesses, and the community, this program establishes clear guidelines and requirements for short-term rental operators, ensuring responsible management and a balanced approach to short-term accommodations in the Township.

All STRA operators in Georgian Bluffs are now required to obtain a licence under the new program, which helps enhance safety, accountability, and neighbourhood well-being. To support applicants, the Township has also created a range of materials to guide them through the licensing process, making it easier to understand and meet the requirements.

“The introduction of this licensing program is a significant step in managing short-term rentals in a way that respects both property owners and the wider community,” said Brittany Drury, Deputy CAO and Director of Corporate Services. “The online portal makes the process simple and efficient, helping operators comply with the new regulations.”

The online licensing portal provides a streamlined and accessible way for property owners to apply for, renew, and manage their STRA licences. Licensing ensures that rental properties meet essential safety and operational standards while minimizing potential impacts on neighbours. The program also provides clarity on STRA requirements, fostering a fair and sustainable approach to short-term accommodations in Georgian Bluffs.
