The Township of Georgian Bluffs Council has finalized the 2023 Budget and Business Plan, with a projected investment of over $20 million in services and infrastructure through a strong focus on partnerships.

Notable projects in the coming year include Elm Street Reconstruction with South Bruce Peninsula, as well as park improvements at both Kilsyth and Sarawak Parks through grant partnerships. The Township is also planning to use funding available from Grey County to install an Electric Vehicle Charging station in the community.

With a continued focus on infrastructure, 47% of overall Township expenses are earmarked for that purpose, including almost $1 million for surface treatment, crack sealing, and repairs to the road network. An additional $75,000 has also been set aside for an updated StreetScan and traffic calming measures, to help ensure driver and pedestrian safety.

“The 2023 Budget reflects Council’s commitment to investing in public spaces and core infrastructure projects that benefit all residents,” said Mayor Sue Carleton.  “We are committed to working with our neighbours in the surrounding municipalities and partnering with other levels of government at the County, Provincial and Federal level to use funding opportunities that allow us to leverage our tax dollars.”

With the total-tax funded portion of the budget set at $11.75 million, the combined tax rate for 2023 sees an additional investment of 3%, or $8.13 per month for the average Georgian Bluffs homeowner.
