Building a Sustainable Tomorrow: Georgian Bluffs Seeks Community Input on Climate Action

Georgian Bluffs has developed a Draft Corporate Climate Action Plan (CorCAP) to help guide the municipality as it seeks to further reduce its environmental impact. Climate change is a pressing global issue that affects us all, and we want to hear from the community on how you want your municipality to respond.

Climate change is already impacting infrastructure and communities in the Township and the Corporate Climate Action Plan establishes how the municipality can respond by changing the way it operates.
Through the plan, the Township hopes to:

  • Mitigate climate impacts by lowering its greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Adapt to climate changes already being felt by adjusting its approach to looking after its infrastructure.

The extent to which Georgian Bluffs is impacted will depend on the actions we take as a municipality today, and it's hoped that this plan will help guide the municipality toward a more sustainable future.

“We are eager to hear community feedback on the plan and how well it responds to what residents want the municipality to do to address climate change,” said Niall Lobley, Acting CAO and Director of Community & Environmental Services, “Climate change is a generational concern, and this CorCAP will reflect our ambition to step up to the plate and meet that challenge.”

The development of the Corporate Climate Action Plan adheres to globally recognized standards and tools, meeting the requirements of the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) and Building Adaptive and Resilient Communities (BARC) programs, which are considered best practices in Canada for climate change planning encompassing both mitigation and adaptation.

Resident and community feedback is essential to shaping the services the Township of Georgian Bluffs delivers and we value your feedback and comments on the Corporate Climate Action Plan. Residents are encouraged to share their insights, views and opinions at www.engageGB.ca. You can participate by taking a short survey, contributing your thoughts to the idea board, or joining the public forum to take part in the conversation.
