Avoid Late Fees: Alternate Payment Methods Available During Canada Post Strike

As the Canada Post strike impacts mail delivery times, Georgian Bluffs is reminding residents of alternate payment methods to ensure timely processing of tax and water bill payments. The Township has also added the ability to make tax and water bill payments online by credit card, subject to a 3.5% administration fee, for added flexibility.

To avoid delays, please consider these payment options:

  • Internet/Telephone Banking: Most financial institutions list "Township Georgian Bluffs" as a payee. Please allow 2-3 business days for processing to ensure payments are received on time.
  • Online Credit Card Payments: Pay your tax and water bills conveniently online using your credit card. Note that a 3.5% administration fee will apply. For more information and to make a payment, visit www.georgianbluffs.ca/payments.
  • Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) Plan: Sign up to have payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date. Visit www.georgianbluffs.ca/PAD to enroll.
  • In Person: Payments can be made by cash, cheque, or debit at the Township Office, Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • Drop Box: A secure drop box is available at the Township Office for cheque payments outside office hours.

While mailing cheques remains an option, residents are urged to account for potential delays due to Canada Post’s rotating strikes. Payments must be received by the due date to avoid penalties. A late payment charge of 1.25% is applied to overdue amounts on the first business day of each month.
