Roadside Brushing and Tree Removal
Maintaining clear and safe roadways is a priority in Georgian Bluffs. The Township regularly removes roadside vegetation that can obstruct visibility, interfere with road maintenance, or pose safety hazards. We may also remove trees that pose a safety risk or are diseased or damaged.
Roadside brushing and tree removal:
- Improves visibility and overhead clearance for larger vehicles.
- Provides space for snow storage.
- Clears roadside areas for maintenance equipment.
- Prevents injury and damage from falling branches or tree collapse.
After brushing, natural vegetation regrows, and the area begins to blend back into the surroundings within a year.
Frequenlty Asked Questions
Why is there paint on a tree in the right-of-way next to my property?
When will the tree be trimmed or removed?
Typically, trees are addressed within 2–4 weeks after being marked. However, due to the impact of the Emerald Ash Borer in our area, the operations department is experiencing a high volume of tree removal requests. Trees may take longer than the 2-4 weeks to be cut at this time.
What happens to the leftover wood?
- Urban areas: Branches will be mulched and removed from the site.
- Rural areas: Branches will be mulched and spread along the back of the ditch. Larger wood sections will be left for adjacent property owners or neighbors to take. If not removed within a month, Township staff will clear them.
If you’d like to use the wood chips from the tree, please contact us at 519-376-2729 ext. 910, or by email to operations@georgianbluffs.ca.
When will the stumps be removed?
- Urban areas: Stumps in manicured front or side yards will be removed within the same calendar year.
- Rural areas: Stumps in manicured yards will also be removed within the year. Stumps in non-manicured areas, including shore road allowances, will be cut low to the ground and left to decompose naturally.
What will happen to the mess from brushing?
In urban areas and manicured rural yards, debris will be raked and removed immediately or by the next business day.
