Privately Maintained Road Grant

Georgian Bluffs offers grants of up to $2,500 every two years to help residents maintain privately managed roads within the Township. These roads, such as Mallard Street, Ivy Drive, parts of Francis Drive, and Shepherd Lake Road, are not maintained by the Township and rely on residents for upkeep. The grant program is designed to offset the costs of road maintenance for residents who access seasonal or year-round properties via these roads.


Grant Details

  • Grant Amount: Up to $2,500 every two years.
  • Eligible Expenses: Gravel, equipment rental, tree trimming/removal, drainage improvements.
  • Ineligible Roads: Roads with existing agreements like “No Demand For Service”.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the grant:

  • The road must be privately maintained and not serviced by the Township.
  • The road must serve as the primary access for at least three municipally addressed properties.
  • Applicants must submit a petition showing support from at least 60% of the residents using the road.

Application Process

  1. Complete the Forms:

    • Complete the Grant Application Form. Ensure the application is signed by three residents, and includes a Supporting Resident Form with at least 60% support from residents on the road.

    • The Township will review applications within 3 weeks.
  4. Approval and Completion:

    • Once approved, you have 18 months to complete the project.
    • Grants will be paid out once the work is completed, with photos provided as evidence (before and after), as well as submission of relevant invoices, receipts, and rental agreements.
