Dress for the weather and wear bright or reflective clothing if you’re working near roadsides. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots are a must. Layers, sun protection, and a rain jacket are good to have on hand depending on the day.
#TrashTagGB Community Clean-up
From April 22 – May 13, 2025, join us in celebrating Earth Day and Ontario’s Day of Action on Litter by taking part in the #TrashTagGB Community Litter Cleanup!
From Earth Day on April 22, to the Ontario Day for Action on Litter on May 13, we’re inviting you to put together a team and take on a litter cleanup challenge in your neighbourhood. Whether it’s a stretch of roadside, a ditch, or a favourite walking trail, every bag counts!
Here’s how it works:
-
Register your team at the Township Office to get bags and free bag tags to use for collected litter—just put the bags out with your regular garbage.
-
Snap before & after photos and share your cleanup success using #TrashTagGB on social media.
Frequently Asked Questions
Safety is our top priority! Along with wearing reflective clothing, sturdy shoes, and a hat, bring gloves and garbage pickers to avoid touching litter directly. Also, consider bringing snacks and water to keep your energy up.
You can choose a stretch of roadside, trail, park, or any public space in Georgian Bluffs that needs attention. Just avoid private property and be mindful of high-traffic areas—your safety comes first!
What if we find something sharp or dangerous?
Do not try to remove sharp, hazardous, or bulky items yourself. This includes broken glass, needles, appliances, or large debris. Instead, report it using the Contact GB tool and Township staff will take care of it.
How do we dispose of the bags?
Once your bags are full, just place them at the curb on your regular garbage day. Make sure you’ve registered your team so we can provide you with free bag tags to cover disposal.
Absolutely! You don’t need a big team! Whether it’s just you, your family, or a few coworkers, every bit helps. We do recommend bringing a buddy for safety and company.
Do we need to register in advance?
Yes, registering ensures you receive your free bag tags and allows us to track participation and coordinate any needed support. Call or email the Township Office to get started.
We’d love to see your efforts! Post before and after photos on social media using the hashtag #TrashtagGB and tag the Township if you can. Let’s spread the good vibes and inspire others to join in!
