Emergency Management

Georgian Bluffs is committed to the safety and well-being of our residents, businesses, and visitors. Emergencies can happen at any time, so having a clear plan in place is essential for reducing risks and ensuring a coordinated response.

Township Emergency Plan

Our Emergency Plan is reviewed annually by the Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) and the Emergency Management Program Committee. It meets all legislative requirements under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, 1990, ensuring that Georgian Bluffs is ready to respond to emergencies effectively.

Key Elements of Our Plan:

  • Community Risk Assessment: Identifies and prioritizes potential hazards to our community. For more details, see our Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
  • Emergency Operations Centre: A designated location for managing emergency response and coordination.
  • Annual Training and Exercises: Ensures that Township staff and emergency response teams are well-prepared.
  • Public Education: Activities like Emergency Preparedness Week and online resources help the public prepare for emergencies.

Preparing for Emergencies

What You Can Do:

  • Create a Household Plan: Identify meeting places, emergency contacts, and supplies.

  • Stay Informed: Follow Township updates on our website, social media, and local news.
