Refreshment Vehicles

Interested in operating a food truck or refreshment stand in Georgian Bluffs? Find out the requirements for licensing, operating locations, and how to apply for a permit to use Township property.

  • Operating Season for Township Property: May 1–October 31, 2024

Licensing

All refreshment vehicles must have an annual licence to operate in the Township, whether it is on Township property or private property (with the landowner's permission. To qualify, the vehicle must be clean and sanitary, with operators holding a Food Handler Certificate from the Public Health Unit, and all food must be clean, fresh and stored appropriately. Licensing Fees

  • Motorized Vehicle: $500 per year
  • Non-Motorized Vehicle: $300 per year

Where and When You Can Operate

  • Permitted Zones: Refreshment vehicles are allowed in all zones except residential zones.
  • Private Property: Vehicles may operate on private property with written permission from the property owner.
  • Township Property: Vehicles may lease Township property for operation between May 1st and October 31st through a seasonal lease.

Operating on Township Property

Refreshment vehicles can apply for a seasonal lease to park on designated Township properties. Preferred locations include:

  • Big Bay Beach Area
  • Balmy Beach Baseball Park
  • Sarawak Family Park
  • Shallow Lake Community Centre
  • Derby Community Centre
  • Kemble Community Centre
  • Township Administration Offices

Lease Fee: $500 per season (May 1st–October 31st)

To apply:

  1. Submit an Application: Complete the Refreshment Vehicle Permit Application online.
  2. Review: The Clerk’s Department will review your application and prepare a lease agreement.
  3. Sign Agreement: Once approved, you’ll need to sign the lease to confirm your spot.
